Join us as we stroll through scenic Woods Hole, exploring the research and culture of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Founded in 1930, you'll walk through the history of the Institution that is woven right into the heart of the village.

Tour Schedule & Information

Tours are available on the following dates:


June, September & October:
Thursday & Friday at 11:15 AM


July & August:
Monday – Friday at 10:45 AM and 1:45 PM


Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled tour time.


Pricing:

$5 per person
Children 12 and under: Free

All proceeds benefit WHOI science.


Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to receive a refund. Tours are non-refundable if canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled time.


The tours take approximately one hour and provide excellent background on the research conducted at WHOI and on the history of the Institution. These tours are recommended for a teenage to an adult audience. 

 

Space is limited. Maximum 15 people per tour.  If the tour exceeds 15 people, it is considered full. 


 If you need to cancel your reservation, please give us the courtesy of letting us know if you are unable to attend, as these tours have a long wait list and others would enjoy attending. Please contact the WHOI Visitor Center and Store ASAP at 508-289-2252 or information@whoi.edu.


Tour participants can check in at the WHOI Store, located at 93 Water Street, Woods Hole. It is recommended that you wear sneakers on the tour.

Public parking is metered on Water Street in Woods Hole. Parking is three hour maximum time. You can also take the WHOOSH Trolley.  Service begins June 21 and runs through Labor Day.  This service will be FREE this year.


The visitor hereby assumes all risk of injury or harm as a result of the activities specified above and agrees to release, indemnify, defend, and forever discharge the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and it's agents from all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, and causes of action due to death, injury, loss, or damage to the visitor. The adult who is accompanying a child visitor does so with the authority to assume all risk and release WHOI as stated above on behalf of the child visitor.
